JohnnyRide is a fund-raiser bike ride for scholarships, established by members of the Durand Heritage Foundation to help further that organization's educational mission.

The Durand Heritage Foundation is a public, not-for-profit, educational and research corporation established in 1998 and chartered in the state of Minnesota. It operates under §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowable. The Foundation affords no pecuniary benefit to its officers and members.

The Foundation carries out its educational mission by publishing newsletters concerning family history, maintaining a Durand genealogy (over 16,000 entries) and by re-publishing books and other materials of family interest. The JohnnyRide scholarship program supports academic scholarship beyond high school. JohnnyRide funds also support projects to research family history.

The goal of JohnnyRide was to build a fund of $50,000 to enable the annual distribution of cash awards to young scholars, in perpetuity. This goal was achieved in 2017.

As of 2020, the JohnnyRide scholarship Program has also awarded more than $28,000 to students from a dozen states.
